‘Move me’
A dance performance specially made for the European Environment Agency 25th anniversary (19 June 2019).
Created and performed by Pil Josephine Nielsen – dancer, performer and visual artist (DK) – and Carlos Romão – nature expert from EEA, amateur dancer and performer (PT).
Inspired by
– the speech of the young student Greta Thunberg at the climate conference in Katovice,
– the launch of the TV series ‘Our Planet’ by Sir David Attenborough at the Natural History Museum of London,
– the cycles of life on Earth (night-dusk-day), the flight of the Golden oriole, hope, despair, crisis, urgency
– Japanese Butoh and contact improvisation dance forms.
‘Nature once determined how we survive. Now WE determine how nature survives!’ – D. Attenborough

Forum Humanum – Kitt Johson
In 2013 I had the honour and pleasure of being one of the 39 extras of Kitt Johnson’s piece ‘Forum Humanum’

‘FORUM HUMANUM is a mass performance with 52 bodies on stage (13 professional dancers and 39 extras)…’
We act in large numbers and crowds, alone or separately. We step into and out of the Human Sea. Swallowed up and whirled around, we manoeuvre ourselves back into the friction between them, us and I. We group ourselves into clans and clubs, nations and networks, before we let ourselves get swallowed up again. Meanwhile, we pursue our needs dictated by drives. If satisfaction is obstructed, the choice is between aggression, sublimation or repression. The codex of the crowd against the demands of biology.
